The Reader is used for reading and listening to stories and articles.
It includes a reading area in the main part of the screen with an audio player at the top.
The reading area displays the text of the story or article and you can move through it by using the arrow keys or the scroll bar on the right hand side of the screen.
When you open a story you’ll see a series of light grey bookmarks to the left of the text.
As you move through the story the colour of the bookmark at the beginning of the paragraph at the top of the screen will change from grey to green. As this happens your progress through the story is recorded.
You can go back through the story at any time. Just move back to where you want to be and click on the bookmark at the start of the paragraph. It will change to green from grey and your progress will be updated.
On a mobile device the reading area takes up the whole width of the screen and you need to use the buttons to view the glossary, related titles, or comments.
To view the Glossary, click...
To view a list of related titles, click...
If you are on a paid plan, you can view comments by clicking...
Many of our stories and articles include an audio version that you can listen to whilst reading the text.
The audio player is very simple to use and stays on the screen as you move through the text.
If the story you're reading has Read Aloud, it will play automatically but you can turn it off by clicking the toggle.
When you get to the end of the story, click the Finished reading to show the story as complete in your Library.
