ReadListenLearn Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales number 8572838. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and are the data controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Read Listen Learn fully recognises the importance of your privacy and we take our responsibility in this area very seriously. This page sets out our policies regarding the information we collect, how we use it, how we share it and how we look after it.

Information that we collect from the use of our website

The following information is collected and aggregated by Google on our behalf about the pages that people visit:

This information will be collected about your use of the website and it is not possible to opt out of that. We use it to improve the content of our web pages and the quality of our service in general.

When you register to use our application you can either do so using your email address and a password of your choice or you can use your Facebook ID.

If you choose to use Facebook to register to use our application we are able to access your public profile, friend list and email address from your Facebook account if you permit us to do so. It is not possible to use Facebook to register to use our application if you do not accept our access to this information.

The lawful basis of the collection of the information

In accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we have defined the lawful bases for the collection and processing of personal information.

To enable us to fulfil our contract with you

We use your identification information to protect your account from use by people other than yourself.

We use information that we collect as a by-product of the use of our service to maintain a history of that usage for you and any teachers that you might choose to be associated with, to present relevant content to you and to enable you to interact with other users of the service.

To enable us to pursue our legitimate interest in improving our service

We also analyse the information that we record about the use of our website and application to endeavour to continually improve the experience that it provides to our visitors and customers in terms of content and features.

Similarly, we use information voluntarily provided to us using forms that we publish from time to time to gather information about the use of different aspects of our service and make improvements to it.

To enable us to pursue our legitimate interest in marketing our services

We may use the information that you provide to us when you register to use our application to tell you about any of our products, services or offers if we think they might interest you. We may also send you more general information such as newsletters and updates.

We may include links to online forms in this communication. Completion of these forms is voluntary and the information collected is use to gauge in interest in our service and to make improvements to it in order to better meet our customers’ needs.

How long your information is stored for

We store your information throughout the time that you are subscribed to our application. If you decide to close your account we will keep a copy of your information for a period of 90 days in case you change your mind or decide that you want a copy of it.

  • Intercom for the same information but also relating to the use of our application and messaging system for communicating with customers
  • Mailchimp for sending out email communications

Ways in which we share the information that we collect

Apart from the suppliers shown above, we do not share (or sell) the information collected from our website or our application to other organisations for commercial or other purposes unless it is necessary in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person or as otherwise required by UK law.

Your rights

When you register to use our application or purchase a subscription to it, you are entering into a contract with us and accepting our terms and the contents of this privacy policy to the extent that it relates to information collected, stored and processed to enable us to fulfil our part of that contract.

If you do not wish us to collect your information and use it as set out in this policy, you should not register to use our application or purchase a subscription for it. If you change your mind about enabling us to collect and process your information after you have registered with us you can cancel your account at any time.

When you register or purchase a subscription you are asked to opt-in to allowing us to use your information for our own marketing purposes to enable us to tell you about services that we provide that might be of interest to you.

You can choose not to opt-in to the use of your information for marketing purposes and, if you do choose to opt-in, you can change your mind at any time using a facility within our application.

You can request to see the information that we hold about you at any time and/or to be provided with a copy of the information.

You can also ask us to delete all your data and close your account at any time.
